China Railway Corporation (CRRC) announced plans to introduce a 20 MW wind turbine model, one of the most powerful in the industry, targeting the floating wind power market, Interesting Engineering reported on September 26. This wind turbine model is described as the best option for developing offshore wind resources in deep water areas. The turbine can produce 40 kWh of electricity per revolution. The plan was announced at the WindEnergy Hamburg conference in Germany, along with CRRC’s latest achievements in wind turbine clusters, component supply management and integrated wind-solar-hydrogen-storage systems. .

The 20 MW floating offshore wind turbine generator marks an important leap forward in wind power technology. The turbine has a rotor diameter of 260 m, a rotor tip height of up to 320 m and a sweeping area of ​​53,000 m2, equivalent to 7 standard football fields.

Large capacity and size make the new turbine model an ideal solution for developing offshore wind resources in deep water areas, especially areas with frequent strong winds. According to the company, its product will boost the efficiency of offshore wind energy projects around the world.

CRRC has built a complete wind turbine equipment supply chain, including essential components such as generators, blades, pillars, inverters, gearboxes and transformers.
