The Cure return after 16 years with a new album, ‘Songs of a Lost World’

Rock band The Cure have announced their return to music after 16 years with a new album, ‘Songs of a Lost World’, which will be released on November 1.

Thus, Robert Smith’s group advances this new work with ‘Alone’, the first song on the album and with which they opened the 2022 tour that bears the same name as the album, ‘Shows Of A Lost World’ and in which they presented all the themes that will make it up.

In that sense, Smith has explained that ‘Alone’ made him feel that the entire album came into “focus,” as he always looks for the “right” phrase to open and close a work.

“It’s the song that opened the album; as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and it felt like the whole album came into focus. I’d been struggling for a while to find the right opening phrase for the opening song. adequate, working with the simple idea of ’being alone’, always in the back of my mind that annoying feeling that I already knew what the starting phrase should be… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs’ by English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment I knew that the song – and the album – were real,” he added according to a statement from the Universal company.
