Charly Hübner about his documentary about “Element of Crime”

Charly Hübner made a very concentrated documentary about the band “Element Of Crime”. Why he didn’t become a rock’n’roller but an actor – and where the anger in his East German homeland comes from.

The large audience got to know Charly Hübner as an actor, as Inspector Bukow in Rostock’s “Polizeiruf 110” or Anke Engelke’s sketch partner in “Ladykracher”. The 51-year-old from Neustrelitz has now positioned himself as an overall artist: Hübner acts, writes books, reads, directs and is often invited to podiums because he is a clever and warm-hearted contemporary commentator when he is in good form on a daily basis. His new work is a music film: He has the band for “When it gets dark and cold in Berlin” (unusual theatrical release: October 1st, a Tuesday).
