Baden-Württemberg: Bicycle rider has a fatal accident while turning

Karlsruhe – Accident drama on a district road in the Karlsruhe district. The driver (67) of a recumbent bicycle died in a collision with a car.

The woman who was behind the wheel of the so-called velomobile was on a cycle path between Rheinsheim and Philippsburg (Baden-Württemberg) on the way when she wanted to cross the street to the left. She apparently overlooked a VW Passat that was approaching her from behind.

A spokesman for the police: “The vehicles collided. The cyclist suffered such serious injuries that she died at the scene of the accident.” The 31-year-old driver of the Volkswagens suffered a shock and an emergency chaplain took care of him.

After Accident The district road remained closed for five and a half hours. The traffic service of the Karlsruhe police headquarters is investigating.
