Good news is rare on the employment front. In the third quarter, the unemployment rate was 7.4%, or 2.3 million people, up slightly compared to the previous one (7.3%). According to the latest forecasts, it could even rise to 7.5% at the end of the year. Alongside the announcements of social plans which are weighing down this fall, recruitment operations are fortunately continuing in many sectors.

Place de la Concorde, in Paris (8th arrondissement), thousands of job opportunities will be offered this week at the Paris Job Fair, an unmissable meeting between recruiters and candidates (November 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.): 400 exhibitors will be present for some 350 professions and… more than 20,000 offers!

Sectors always in search of skills

From now on, it is advisable to prepare your visit in advance by consulting the website — oui-emploi.fr — for the list of companies and their needs. It is also possible to apply online. Arriving at the show with an updated CV, a well-targeted cover letter and knowing the expectations of your possible future employer is essential. The key word is to choose your targets carefully to land interviews. Here are some ideas to know before heading out into the aisles to meet recruiters.

“The entire energy sector is also interested in many candidates, like RTE,” underlines Michel Lefèvre, director of the show. The metallurgical industry will also have an important stand with many companies such as Alstom, Ariane Groupe, Voltalia. » Aeronautics is also in demand for new CVs.

Administration and communities in number

Local authorities — such as the towns of Vincennes (Val-de-Marne), Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) or the urban communities of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines or Vallée Sud Grand Paris — , large administrations such as the Ministry of Justice, and in particular the penitentiary, will be on site with multiple proposals.

The City of Paris (53,000 agents) is obviously present under the enormous marquee. “We have some 330 professions,” says Olivia Polski, the assistant in charge of human resources. Moreover, currently on our website, you can already find 960 offers and the dates of certain competitions. »

She continues by detailing the needs: “The municipal police, which we are strengthening, are looking for people. All health professions are recruiting, from childcare to caregivers, nurses, doctors and psychologists. » Environment, cleanliness, IT or cybersecurity are also in demand for new arrivals.

Ultimately, in 2025, 5,000 recruitments are planned, including the creation of 250 positions. The Parisian elected official concludes: “Sometimes, you first have to go through a competition, but we also have positions for civil servants and transfers. In certain cases, for our professions in tension, the process can be very rapid. »

Armies and police in force

All army corps will also offer numerous employment opportunities, whether to engage in action or even as a civilian. The range is quite wide, from technical and manual professions to those of combatants in the different theaters of operations – the Foreign Legion will be there – or even in cybersecurity or health. All skills are welcome.

The Ministry of the Interior, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), the General Directorate of External Security (DGSE) or the national police will propose hundreds of offers.

The Games, but after…

The Ile-de-France region and twenty companies will also be at Place de la Concorde to help many people who worked on the Olympic events to find work.
