On Wednesday, the Commission proposed an action plan to help reduce the burden of high energy prices and households.

The aim is that by 2040 the energy costs would have fallen by EUR 260 billion per year.

The Commission intends to reduce Europe’s dependence on imported fuel and improve the functioning of the European electricity market.

With the Commission’s reform measures, total savings for energy costs would already be EUR 45 billion this year.

Savings are expected to grow gradually: in 2030 they would be EUR 130 billion and in 2040 savings would result in EUR 260 billion per year.

The action plan is to complete the energy union, including increasing renewable energy, strengthening network interoperability, increasing cross -border trade, digitalisation, and mobilizing private capital in clean energy investments.

In order to achieve this goal, the Commission also promises to facilitate the permit processing times for clean energy projects.

In order to calculate the price of electricity, the Commission intends to address all three components of the energy bill, ie online and system costs, taxes and fees, and delivery costs.

The Commission intends to make recommendations to Member States to reduce national electricity taxes and to enable consumers to be able to switch to cheaper energy orders.

The Commission also supports the introduction of long -term delivery agreements, which help to break the connection between electric bills and high and unstable gas prices.

In order to reduce the online payment of the energy bill, the Commission proposes a method to ensure that online payments reflect the cost of the energy system and encourage the network for the most efficient use.

The Commission also intends to support the broader deployment of energy efficiency solutions.

According to the Commission, the EU EU guarantee system, which is co -developed with the European Investment Bank (EIB), will help reduce the risk of investment in energy efficiency services.

In order to ensure fair competition in the gas market, the Commission will enhance EU gas market control through energy regulation authorities.

For liquefied natural gas, the purchasing power of the Union is to be utilized by combining demand for European companies.

According to the Commission, the best protection against energy prices is the integrated, well -functioning and carbon -free energy market.
