The tycoon Elon Musk envisions a future where ‘smartphones’ as we know them today will be just a device to run the artificial intelligence (AI), since it will be this technology that, through video and audio, drives communications.
The founder of companies such as Tesla, SpaceX and xAI has denied that he is working on a mobile phone when the American presenter Joe Rogan asked him about the rumors about his projects on this type of equipment.
Musk preferred to share his vision of what he believes will be the future of mobile communication during a recent interview on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast.
In it, he explained that “we will not have a telephone in the traditional sense. What we will call a telephone will actually be a peripheral node for AI inference with wireless connections.” That is, “the AI on the server will communicate with the AI on your device – formerly known as a phone – and generate real-time video of anything you can imagine.”
Musk believes that “in the future there will be no operating systems or applications; it will simply be a device with a screen and audio, designed to integrate as much AI as possible,” he added, highlighting that everything will be done with AI, including sending emails and using the social network X.
“Anything that occurs to you or really anything that AI can anticipate that you might want, it will show it to you,” predicted the technology magnate, who sees that future in the medium term: “it will probably be five or six years or something like that,” he concluded.
