German U17 with a draw at the start of the World Cup

Defending champion Germany started the U17 World Cup in Qatar with a draw. The youth selection of the German Football Association (DFB) drew 1-1 (1-0) against Colombia at the start of the tournament in Doha. Toni Langsteiner from RB Leipzig gave national coach Marc-Patrick Meister’s team the lead with a lightning goal after just 16 seconds. Juan Catano (57th minute) equalized for Colombia. The German team hit the post in the 46th and 89th minutes.

The other opponents in preliminary group G are North Korea on Friday (2:00 p.m. CET/skysport.de) and El Salvador on Monday (2:30 p.m. CET/skysport.de).

 

Two years ago, the then U17 team won the World Cup title in Indonesia under current women’s national coach Christian Wück.
