A journey into the art and creativity of the new generations. From Wednesday 5 November it arrives on RaiPlay “Playing Memories”an eight-episode docu-series that tells the adventures of one hundred and twenty young artists – the majority coming from the main Italian institutes of high artistic-musical education, supported by twenty-four international colleagues – engaged in a collective journey made of music, dance, painting, photography, sculpture and performing arts.
The series, which sees the friendly participation of Marco Liorniwas created with the aim of giving space to art in all its forms, encouraging participants to engage in an intercultural exchange and to test themselves in eight artistic residencies in different Italian cities, culminating in sixteen live performances in Italy and around the world. Each working group is made up of fifteen performers selected from the best Italian and foreign artistic institutes, called to reinterpret songs from the Italian musical repertoire – traditional or contemporary, published or unpublished – in shows held first in the host city and then in an international destination.
Among the guests who enrich the episodes include Diana Del Bufalo, Dito nella Piaga, Michele Bravi, Margherita Vicario, Dardust, Roy Paci, Mirkoeilcane and Peppe Vessicchio, called to share their experience with the young protagonists.
«“Playing Memories” is one of those productions that does not limit itself to documenting art: it puts it on stage, brings it to life and reinvents it» explains Marcello Ciannamea, director of Rai Contenuti Digitali e Transmediali. «It is a project that talks about memory, but through the lens of the future, a future built by the protagonists. In a historical moment in which culture and artistic education must return to the center, RaiPlay becomes the natural home of a story like this: authentic, multidisciplinary and open to the world.”
Conceived by Stefano Mastruzzi and produced by the Saint Louis College of Music with funding from the Pnrr, “Playing Memories” is a program by Rai Contenuti Digitali e Transmediali (director Marcello Ciannamea), directed by Claudio Ammendola and written by Roberto Giglio and Paolo Logli. The docu-series is created in collaboration with the Alfredo Casella Conservatory of L’Aquila, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala Foundation, Rufa (Rome University of Fine Arts) and Isia (Higher Institute for Artistic Industries of Rome).
The first four episodes of “Playing Memories” are available on RaiPlay
while the next four chapters of this choral tale that combines memory, talent and innovation will arrive from November 12th.
