France-Colombia (2-0): the video of the incredible solitary rush which qualified the Bleuets for the U17 World Cup

The Bleuets continue on their way. Opposed to Colombia in the round of 16 of the Under-17 World Cup, the France team won this Friday in Doha (2-0). Despite the strong pressure from the young Cafeteros, Lionel Rouxel’s men held on and validated their ticket for the 8th in the final moments of the game.

After the opening score signed by young Marseille center forward Antoine Valero (14th), the Tricolores left control of the ball to the Colombians and could have regretted it as the opposing domination was so strong during the second act. But at the end of added time, Pierre Mounguengue offered a huge breath of fresh air to all his partners.

Barely coming into play, the PSG U19 striker launched into a real solitary rush, going all the way up the field before winning his face-to-face with the opposing goalkeeper (90th + 5).

Towards a shock against Brazil in 8th?

Enough to breathe life into the France group, author of a mixed group phase. After winning against Chile for their first match in the competition (2-0), the Bleuets shared the points with Canada (0-0) before losing against Uganda (0-1).

Still qualified and first in their group despite these checkered results, they will challenge the winner of the round of 16 between Brazil and Paraguay, scheduled for this Friday evening, necessarily guaranteeing them a new confrontation against a South American team in the next round. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 18.

As a reminder, the French team has only won the U17 World Cup once in its entire history, in 2001. During the last edition, organized in Indonesia in 2023, the Tricolores stumbled on the last step, losing on penalties in the final against Germany.
