Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati held telephone conversations on resolving the Palestinian problem.
Interfax reports that during the negotiations, the draft American resolution on Gaza being considered at the UN Security Council and related Russian proposals were discussed.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that an exchange of views also took place on the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. “The mutual commitment to the political and diplomatic path of settlement and the importance of finding solutions to avoid a new escalation of tension were emphasized,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
