The ‘Champions’ Joventut-Hapoel Holon will be played behind closed doors

Joventut Badalona will play this Wednesday’s match (8:45 p.m.) against the Israeli Hapoel Holon, corresponding to the fifth day of the ‘Basketball Champions League’, behind closed doors, following the “recommendations of the competent authorities” and with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of the black and green fans.

“Club Joventut Badalona informs that, following the recommendations of the competent authorities and in view of the mobilizations called in this regard, the game on Wednesday, November 19 against Hapoel Holon in the Basketball Champions League will be played behind closed doors,” the Catalan club announced in a statement.

La ‘Penya’ explained that it has made this decision to guarantee the safety of all fans, believing that they will understand this “extraordinary measure and completely beyond the control” of the Catalan team, which will play its fifth match in the European competition behind closed doors.

It will not be the first match to be played without an audience this season in Spain, since last October Valencia Basket made the same decision for its Euroleague match against Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv. La Laguna Tenerife and Baxi Manresa took the same measure days before for their duels against Bnei Herzliya and Hapoel Jerusalem, all of them teams from Israel.
