On Monday evening there was a serious accident in the Kruisstraat in Ronse. A car was hit in the side by a car driving up the Kruisberg. When leaving the parking lot, the driver wanted to turn around to drive to the center, but that is not allowed because there is a solid white line.
The impact was severe and the fire brigade had to free one person from the vehicle. There were three people in the car that was hit. The 36-year-old driver, her 4-year-old child and a 45-year-old passenger were allowed to go home after a check-up at the hospital.
The woman was first taken to Oudenaarde hospital, from there she went to Ghent University Hospital. Her life was in danger for a while and her condition was still critical on Tuesday afternoon. Her 4-year-old child was immediately taken to Ghent University Hospital. Here too, there was a danger to life for a long time.
The driver of the other car, a 55-year-old man, was taken to Ronse hospital with injuries. He tested negative for alcohol and drugs. A blood sample was taken from the woman for analysis because she was too badly injured to take a breath and saliva test.
