The crash at the Dubai Airshow, in which an Indian HAL Tejas A1 combat aircraft crashed, has come as an apparent blow to the Indian aviation industry.
Armenia has already announced the suspension of negotiations on the purchase of 12 HAL Tejas A1 aircraft for $1.2 billion. This was to be the first export deal for HAL Tejas.
The cancellation of the deal will also hit Israeli defense concerns, which will lose several tens of millions of dollars.
Let us recall that only in June 2025, the Indian Air Force received the first HAL Tejas combat aircraft, an improved A1 model, equipped with Israeli avionics and combat systems.
Tejas aircraft replaced the outdated MiG-21, but the first model is significantly inferior to the world’s leading models. Texas A1, according to experts, is a significant step forward.
The new Tehas A1 will be equipped with AESA radar and electronic warfare equipment from Elta, a new generation of helmet-mounted target designation system from Elbit, and radar-guided Derby missiles from Rafael.
