Türkiye, anti-opposition raid: police use tear gas to remove opposition party leaders

The Ankara police raided the headquarters of the main opposition party in Turkey, the CHP, to implement the Court’s decision which ordered the removal of the current leader Ozguz Ozel. The intervention follows the court’s decision to consider the 2023 Congress that had elected Ozel as leader null and void and brings Kemal Kilicdaroglu back to the helm of the party.

As can be seen from the videos shared by Haber’s website, the police are using tear gas, water cannons and rubber bullets to disperse party leaders, citizens and parliamentarians who had gathered in front of the CHP headquarters, forcing them away. ”The CHP is under occupation”, writes the youth section of Turkey’s oldest party in ‘X’.
