Yle outsources its staging operations to Pågå oy

Yle outsources its stage operations. According to Yle’s press release, 13 people as well as equipment, machines and premises will be transferred to the new operator in the transfer of the shop.

On September 1st, the stage house operations will be transferred to a company called Tuotanto ja wointekoyhtiö Pågå oy.

Yle told in March is planning to outsource its staging operations by handing over the shop. A new partner was sought through an open tender, which was won by Pågå oy.

According to its website, the company is a domestic company specializing in the design, implementation and furnishing of media productions, sets for artists and exhibitions, and structures for events. Founded in 1996, Pågå oy’s offices are located in Vantaa and Tampere.

According to the press release, Yle currently has staging operations in Helsinki and Tampere. Yle and Pågå oy have already collaborated in the past, among other things, in the staging of news studios, UMK’s stage productions and Yle’s summer event, the release states.

Parliament cut Yleisradio’s index increases for three years and increased Yle’s value added tax, which cost Yle 66 million euros. This reduced Yle’s personnel by around five hundred.

In addition to the cuts, the working group demanded that Yle increase the number of external purchases by 15–20 percent by 2030. This means an annual increase of around 10–14 million euros to the current level.

According to Yle, the outsourcing of the stage studio is the first step to achieve the goal.
