Art, for Navy Day donated to Mattarella the work ‘MaMà’s President’

The donation “takes on a particular institutional and cultural importance: contemporary art – we read in a note – is welcomed in a context of high national representation, bringing into dialogue republican identity, Italian pictorial tradition and visual languages of the present. The critical-editorial profile of MaMà Dots also fits into this horizon, included in the Atlas of Contemporary Art 2026 by Giunti Editore in the section dedicated to Masters of international importance: a passage that places the collective’s research within a broader mapping of Italian and international contemporary art. MaMà’s President is created according to Pop Pointillism Beyond AI, a pictorial grammar developed by MaMà Dots between pointillism, Pop Art and digital civilization. The image recalls the aesthetics of the pixel and artificial intelligence, but is entirely hand-painted with oil colors on canvas: the pixel is brought back to the pictorial material, the digital grid becomes a manual structure, the apparently technological image reveals the presence of man opposition to technology. On the contrary, it recognizes new technologies and artificial intelligence as tools for growth also for art, provided that they remain oriented by human control, responsibility, quality, merit and ethics”.

In this perspective, “Beyond AI” indicates a humanism of the image: going beyond artificial intelligence means reaffirming the primacy of creative consciousness, of the hand and of beauty as a human experience. In the portrait of the President, the multitude of points that make up the face also takes on a civil meaning: each element retains identity, color and position, but only in the relationship with the others does it generate a unitary figure. It is a visual metaphor of the Republic as a plural, cohesive and recognizable community. The work belongs to the Perseverance Collection, artistic project developed as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Maritime Military Commissariat Corps”.
