The president of the Independent Trade Union of the Fiat factory in Kragujevac, Sasa Djordjevic, requested an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, “in order to seek a solution for all of us who live from this factory.”
In an open letter to Prime Minister Djordjevic, he pointed out that he was “forced” to do so by uncertainty, which borders on the panic in which Fiat workers are.
Due to the preparation for the production of an electric car, Fiat workers in Kragujevac were offered to go abroad for work in the factories of the company Stelantis, which includes Fiat, or to leave the factory with severance pay.
“After the joy caused by learning about the new model that will be produced in our factory, which we believe you put in a lot of effort, the intentions expressed by our employer caused us completely different emotions and great concern,” the letter reads.
It is pointed out that the additional confusion and concern of the workers arose after the meeting of the workers’ representatives with the ministers after the protest in Kragujevac, due to the different view of the results of that meeting, presented by the workers and government representatives.
According to well-informed sources, the top management of the factory has resigned and plans to leave the factory, which rightly leads to a conclusion about the uncertain future and their knowledge of future events in which they do not want to be actors. no one for an interlocutor in Stelantis “, reads the open letter.
The Independent Trade Union of Fiat’s factory points out that their desire is to reach a possible acceptable solution through dialogue, to avoid “unpleasant events that will occur if nothing is done”.
“We see you as a factor without which it is impossible to find a way out of this situation. We believe that the factory and these workers have a future in it, and that talks with you have no suitable alternative. We look forward to your invitation!” signed by the president of the Independent Trade Union of the factory, Sasa Djordjevic.
