Pensions: pensions will be increased by 2.2% on January 1, confirms the ministry

This Tuesday, December 10, the Minister of the Budget confirmed a 2.2% increase in retirement pensions on January 1, 2025.

In the latest version of the draft Social Security budget for 2025, Michel Barnier’s government announced a 0.8% increase in retirement pensions, particularly with the aim of giving confidence to the National Rally (RN).

Application of the Social Security Code

With the fall of the Barnier government – censored by deputies on December 4 – the Social Security budget was not adopted and the Social Security Code applied.

The text provides for an annual revaluation of pensions (excluding supplementary pensions) on January 1, indexed to inflation over the past year. This brings the revaluation of retirement pensions to 2.2%, an increase of 18 euros on average.

Payment of this new amount will be made from February.
