Employment rate, overall duration… The French still work less than their European neighbors

Every year since 2012, Rexecode calculates the number of hours worked by French workers, and compares it with their European neighbors. And every year for thirteen years, it’s been the same story: with a few exceptions, the survey by the Institute of Economic Studies, which is based on data from Eurostat and INSEE, shows that French employees work less than all others: 1,673 hours on average exactly, over the whole of 2023 (an increase of four hours compared to the previous year).
