Donatella Versace leaves the role of artistic director of the brand, in his place Dario Vitale

Donatella Versace leaves the role of artistic director of the fashion house. Capri Holdings announces this, the giant that has held Gianni Versace since January 2019 and is also the owner of the brand Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo.

 

Dario Vitale will be the new creative director from next April 1st, thus taking the place of Donatella Versace who will be Global Chief Ambassador. Capri Holdings announced it. In his new role Donatella Versace “will dedicate himself to supporting the philanthropic initiatives and Versace’s charity and will continue to promote the brand globally”.

 

Vitale previously was Design and Image Director of Miu Miu. As John D. Idol, president and CEO of Capri Holdings, explained, “Today’s announcements are part of a careful succession plan for Versace”.

 

Vitale said he was “really honored” as the Versace Maison “has a unique heritage that extends over decades and has shaped the history of fashion”. For him, “it is a privilege to contribute to the future growth of Versace and its global impact through my vision, competence and dedication”.

“In my new role of Chief Brand Ambassador, I will remain the most passionate supporter of Versace, who is in my DNA and always in my heart”. This was stated by Donatella Versace who since April leaves his role as creative director of the Maison.

I want to thank my incredible design team and all the employees of Versace with whom I had the privilege of working for over three decades.
