Over 7 in 10 Belgians own their own home

In 2020–2021, more than seven out of 10 Belgians were homeowners. This was made clear by the first findings of the National Bank’s fourth round of the Household Finance and Consumption Survey on Monday.

Seventy-two percent of Belgians had their own homes as of 2020–2021. In comparison to 2017, there has been an increase of 3 percentage points.

Families in Belgium held additional real estate that was not used as their primary dwelling in about 18% of cases. Typically, a second property is involved.
