Vučić opened the Serbian pavilion at the World Exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai

Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, opened the pavilion of Serbia at the World Exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai in the presence of high.ranking officials from the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
Vučić said that Serbia is interested in global trade, which is one of its most important priorities and that is why it is participating in the World Exhibition.

“We are developing other sectors as well and we want to make progress in cooperation with other countries and nations,” he said.

He pointed out that Serbia will be represented at the World Exhibition in the best possible way, as an economically successful country.

“We will present our economy, innovations, culture, religion. Our wish is to put Serbia on the list of the most successful, most competitive countries,” Vucic said.

He stated that Serbia attracts the most investments in the region and that this year will end with economic growth of seven percent, which is much better than last year and which may be the best result in Europe.

“Serbia wants to make progress in innovations and digitalization, and that is one of the ways to start joint ventures and reduce political tensions,” Vucic said.

He praised Serbia’s relations with the UAE, emphasizing that about 1,000 companies from that country operate in Serbia and that a joint vaccine factory is under construction in Belgrade.

He added that Belgrade on Water is also a joint project, which put Belgrade on the list of cities with the largest investments.

The pavilion of Serbia was opened with the performance of vocal soloist Danica Krstić with a multimedia performance inspired by the ancient Vinča culture, and whose main actor is the ballet artist Dejan Kolarov.

“By presenting at the World Exhibition, we want to open new chances for the development of Serbia through networking with key actors of the world business community,” said Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and Commissioner General of Serbia’s Expo 2020 Dubai Tatjana Matic.

She pointed out that Serbia will be presented as a stable investment destination “which under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vučić has become recognizable as the fastest growing economy in the Western Balkans, the first in foreign direct investment in Europe, among the first in the world IT sector development and a leader in region when it comes to digitization “.

Matic congratulated the hosts on the extremely high standards in the organization of the largest planetary event in history, during which 25 million visitors are expected.

“Friendly relations between Serbia and the UAE are based on long.term fruitful political and economic cooperation, and the fact that we are in a group of privileged countries that have their pavilion in one of the most prominent locations of the exhibition and that we will be one of the dominant pavilions with a total area of ​​almost 2,000 square meters. on the panorama of the Expo, it further confirms the closeness of our two countries and is an additional opportunity to strengthen these relations, “she said.

The Serbian Pavilion is located in the Mobility District of the World Exhibition (Mobility District), designed as a kind of time capsule, which connects the legacy of the Neolithic Vinča culture with digitally advanced and modern Serbia.

Matic added that the Pavilion is fully digitalized and provides the possibility of a virtual journey through different realities, different time periods and different spaces, and that Serbia will present itself as an innovative and creative country by performing at the World Exhibition.

Serbia’s appearance at Expo 2020 Dubai was realized in cooperation with the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Serbia – Platform Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Development Agency of Serbia

The world exhibition is open today and will last until March 31, 2022, under the slogan “Connecting minds, creating the future”.

During the six months of the exhibition under the slogan, “Serbia creates ideas – inspired by the past, we create the future”, through more than 150 different events, Serbia will present various economic sectors, scientific content, technological innovations, creative industries and tourism offer. as a modern, innovative country, attractive for the development of trade and tourism.

At the World Exhibition, which is held on 4.3 square kilometers, 192 countries will be presented, of which about 80 on their own pavilion. The beginning of the exhibition was postponed for a year due to the coronary virus pandemic.

The signing of a Free Trade Agreement with the United Arab Emirates is also planned for Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the World Exhibition, the Government of Serbia also provided free charter flights, in cooperation with Air Serbia, on the route Belgrade.Dubai.Belgrade, which will be available to interested representatives of the business community during precisely defined thematic weeks.

The first World’s Fair was held in 1851 in London.

So far, some of the most important technological discoveries such as electric telegraph, plastic, electric loom, typewriter, telephone, television, computer, alternating current, diesel engine, sound film, escalator, X.ray, color photography have been presented at these events. the needs of world exhibitions were built, among others, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels.
