The National Communications Agency (Enacom) inaugurated the first connectivity work financed by the Government.
The National Communications Entity (Enacom) inaugurated the first connectivity work financed by the Government and carried out through non-profit organizations, within the framework of the Connectivity Program for Popular Neighborhoods, which seeks to ensure internet access for all citizens.
“Today we inaugurate something transcendent for the towns of the city of Buenos Aires, which is the first connectivity work financed by the national government where the residents themselves, through civil organizations, are going to provide their own service and in this case in particular non-profit “, remarked the vice president of Enacom, Gustavo Lpez in dialogue with Tlam Radio.
He stressed that “this is a step forward because for us connectivity is a basic human right and in this way, with concrete policies and with a present National State, we say connectivity for all.”
The Atalaya Civil Association entered the project to build the infrastructure that allows the inhabitants of villa 20 in the porteo neighborhood of Lugano to access the internet, within the framework of the Connectivity Program in popular neighborhoods, developed in the Enacom.
“This is a step forward because for us connectivity is a basic human right and in this way, with concrete policies and with a present National State, we say connectivity for all””
The entity awarded the civil association $ 13,676,614, in non-refundable contributions (ANR), which arise from the Universal Service Fund for telecommunications, with which they will expand and improve the existing service with a projection of 480 accesses, in a period of 18 months.
Until now, Lpez indicated, the civil association was providing Internet access “in a precarious way” in reference to the quality of the links, and stressed that “now with the subsidy of just over $ 13 million, connectivity will be through fiber optics “.
The opening ceremony was held at 10:30 am at the “Proyecto Comunidad” premises in Villa 20, with the participation of the candidate for national deputy for the City, from the Frente de Todos, Leandro Santoro.
