Hevrat Hashmal: debts on electricity bills increased by 20%

According to the Israel Electricity Company (Hevrat Hashmal), Israelis’ electricity bills have risen by 20% over the past year. At the same time, the company did not indicate the exact amount of debts to it.

The company explains the increase in debts by easing the policy of power outages for debts during the pandemic, as well as by the decision of the High Court of Justice (High Court of Justice) from 2021, limiting the possibility of power outages.

30% of debtors are enterprises (commercial and industrial), 70% are households. At the same time, a significant part of the shares of households are relatively new. In this regard, the company intends to launch a campaign to collect debts.
