Finland The mass communication market returned to the level before the corona pandemic in one year, says Tilastokeskus. However, not all industries recovered evenly.
According to mass communication statistics published by the center on Thursday, the market value of the industry last year was around 3.77 billion euros, which exceeds the level of 2019. In the corona pandemic year 2020, the value of the market decreased, but the industry grew by a total of 4.9 percent from last year, or about 178 million euros.
According to statistics, the value of television and internet advertising also increased during the Corona period. Sales in the television industry in particular increased, which can be explained by, for example, the increased popularity of paid streaming services.
The sales of recordings also increased last year, but instead of the traditional record store, sales also mainly come from digital channels.
Publishing and newspaper industry despite the growth, still did not reach the pre-coronavirus level last year. The periodical market, on the other hand, according to statistics, also continued to decline, and according to Statistics Finland, the same trend has continued for about a decade.
In 2020, the corona epidemic halved the value of the cinema industry. A big reason for this was the gathering restrictions, which were used to try to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. According to Statistics Finland, cinema sales continued to decline last year, amounting to around 46 million euros.
