The strike of workers in the Fiat Plastic factory in Kragujevac has entered its tenth month

Workers of Kragujevac’s Fiat Plastic, a factory for the production of bumpers for “Fiat 500 L”, are entering the tenth month of the general strike because there is no progress in solving their problems.

The workers of this factory started a strike at the end of February, after their employer reduced their salaries in 2021, that is, the amount of recourse.

At that time, they also demanded that the compensation for paid leave be equalized with the one received by the workers of the company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Serbia, and that it be raised from 60 to 65 percent.

Negotiations with Fiat, mediated by the state Agency for the Peaceful Settlement of Labor Disputes, failed in October.

The president of the Strike Committee, Zoran Miljković, told the Beta agency today that the line minister Darija Kisić Tepavčević betrayed her promises, as well as the expectations of the workers.

“At our request, she sent an inspection to the factory on two occasions, but in a fake way, because the inspection dealt with unimportant things and did not take into account the basic thing we were looking for. And that is to return the machines to our factory. illegally displaced during the strike and to return to work a group of workers who worked on them, “Miljkovic said.

He assessed that with this move, the state clearly put itself on the side of employers, while consciously violating the rights of workers.

“We are aware of that every day in Serbia, not only in Kragujevac,” said Miljković.

He added that Fiat Plastics employees are determined to continue the strike until the demands are met.

According to him, out of a total of 70 workers, 90 percent of them are participating in the strike.
