The Minister for the care of the village, Milan Krkobabic, said today that a public competition for the allocation of empty rural houses in Serbia will be announced on Vidovdan, on Monday, June 28, 2021, “when the return to the village begins,” his cabinet announced.
“The Ministry of Village Care has determined 500 million dinars for the purchase of empty houses. The maximum amount for the purchase of a house is 1.2 million dinars,” it is stated in the announcement.
After the Government of Serbia passed a decree on the adoption of the Program for the allocation of non-refundable funds for the purchase of a rural house with a garden on the territory of Serbia in 2021, Krkobabic said that “Serbia is finally embarking on a decisive battle to fill empty rural houses.”
“It is a historically important date and a key thing. We want to change the direction south-north slowly but surely, so that people do not leave, but stay and return to the village,” Krkobabic said.
He added that the desire is for young people who are engaged in agriculture and who live in joint households to find a roof over their heads, but also some young people who want to replace their tenancy or difficult life problem in suburban or urban settlements with their own house and garden. .
“We should all unreservedly support the program of allocating funds for the purchase of empty houses. This is an appeal for all deputies, members of the Government and all political parties in opposition or in power. This is our joint patriotic act and mission that will last,” Krkobabic said.
