The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, stated today in Niš that the city will become a “road and energy hub of this part of Europe” with the construction of the Peace Highway, the connection of corridors 10 and 11 and the construction of a gas pipeline to Bulgaria.
Brnabic said at the press conference that the construction of the Peace Highway to Prokuplje and Kursumlja, and further to Pristina, Tirana and the port of Durres, will begin at the end of September in Merosina near Nis, in the presence of high EU representatives.
“It will be phenomenal for Nis. The connection of corridors 10 and 11 is phenomenal for Nis, it will be a crossroads,” Brnabic said. She added that the biggest project will be the complete reconstruction of the railway Corridor 10 to the border with Northern Macedonia, for which the EU received between 600 and 700 million euros in grants, while the entire project costs about 1.8 billion euros.
