Today, the representative of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Serbia, Martin Klauke, handed over the keys to 18 cars to the Republic Statistical Office (SORS), which are a donation from the EU in order to operate the civil service more efficiently.RSZ director Miladin Kovacevic said that the vehicles will be used for work during the 2022 census and the 2023 agricultural census.

“By using these vehicles, the costs and time provided for census and other activities will be reduced,” said Kovacevic.

He added that the donated cars were intended for statistical departments in 15 Serbian municipalities and in Belgrade.

“The EU donation within the IPA 2018 project for the development of statistics in Serbia consists of four components: Census of Population, Households and Dwellings 2021, Census of Agriculture 2021, Population Health Survey and Survey of Multiple Indicators on the Status of Women and Children,” said Kovacevic .

As he pointed out, the total value of the EU project for the development of statistics in Serbia is around 29 million euros, in which the EU participated 20 million euros.

Kovacevic explained that the goal of this project is to improve and facilitate the comparability of statistical data at the international level.

Martin Klauke said that the EU has twice supported the Republic Bureau of Statistics by donating cars.

“In 2019, the European Agency for Reconstruction donated 15 cars to this institution for the purpose of developing a statistical information system,” Klauke added.
