Working world 2030: These are the jobs with a future

Together with a salary database, the strategy consultancy has identified 35 job profiles that will be particularly in demand in 2030 and promise high pay. The highest-paying position on the list is Technical Director, followed by Internists, Dermatologists, and General Practitioners.

The study sees the largest personnel gaps in mathematical professions (data analysts), IT (software development, artificial intelligence) and engineering. The job with the biggest pay increase is Cyber Security Analyst. By the end of the decade, these professionals will earn 35 percent more than today.

Green Jobs als Chance

There will also be a shortage of workers in Austria. The population forecast published by Statistics Austria assumes population growth of 3.4 percent by 2030. However, the working-age population (15 to 64) declines by 2.4 percent (140,000) over this period. Reason: The baby boomers with the high birth rates will be retiring in the next few years.

An expert from the AMS confirms: “Qualified employees will be in high demand in Austria, especially in the health and social services (nurses and doctors), in technical professions, in the area of data security and in tourism. Climate policy measures and investments in renewable energies (keywords green jobs and green economy) will bring increased demand for workers in the highly qualified sector.”

Lifelong learning

Continuing education will become more important. “The speed of change has increased. More revolutionary technologies will come,” says Philipp Kolo. “People will have to gain cross-qualifications in the future in order to be prepared for the challenges of the future.”
