אינטל מודיעה על פיתוח שבב קריפטו שישמש לכריית ביטקוין

The global shortage of chips greatly affects the growing industry, and has also disrupted other large industries that depend on chips and components. Now, chip giant Intel is announcing its entry into the crypto market and reporting a chip development (ASIC – short for Application Specific Integrated Circuit, or otherwise known as an on-chip system) dedicated to efficiently processing algorithm used for bitcoin mining (SHA 256 stacking function).

Intel says the chip is in development these days. It has not yet been announced when it will be released to the market, but the company is already reporting on future planning: “The new chip will be upgraded and is expected to have a more advanced second-generation version of the blockchain, down the road.”

More details on the new chip will be revealed at a conference to be held later this month, the Solid State Circuit (ISSCC). It seems that there are still no concrete details about the new chip but only a direction reading, with a promise from the company that later it will share more details about the product itself, the cost of the chip or when it will be available.

Improving energy efficiency in bitcoin mining

Raja Kodori, head of the accelerated processing and graphics group at Intel, says that the company has been working in recent years to improve its hash function. “This work has generated more than a dozen patents and several circuit-level content innovations that improve both the energy efficiency and the performance of the Bitcoin mining chip. These innovations will make the blockchain accelerator energy efficient and ultra-low in power consumption – 1000 times faster than cards. Graphics that use the SHA-256 mining algorithm, “said Kodori.

Kodori explained that blockchain is an ideal meteorological technology, that Intel recently announced its plans to develop a computing infrastructure for the metavors. The reason blockchain technology takes on such a role is that it “allows users to trade in rare digital assets such as items from games and digital spaces without an entity guarding them, and therefore fits into our future plans like a glove.”

According to Intel, the new chip is expected to be purchased by cryptographic mining companies such as Block (formerly Square), GRIID, which has three mining facilities in the United States, and Argo Blockchain, which operates mining technology in North America.

The chip giant is entering the field when there is a global shortage that threatens

In the past year, Bitcoin mining operations have secured $ 1 million in transactions. Chipmakers like Microbt and Bitmain have sold thousands of chips to operators. But at the same time it is impossible to ignore the horror of industries around the world – the global shortage of chips. Companies find themselves lacking in components for delivery days.

Around the world, governments are required to find a solution to this crisis, as US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raymondo said: Ours. ”Which led the U.S. to advance a bill that would help bring back manufacturing jobs to the U.S..

Anvidia also provides processors and chips for efficient etherium mining. Last year the company introduced its version of crypto processors called CMP. The company uses its GPUs to solve the complicated mathematical problems. In the case of Anvidia, its processors are widely used for gamers and those who need strong processing of graphics in their uses. Because the crypto mining process involves high demands for processing calculations, many opt for powerful graphics processors that are originally designed for gaming, including anvidia cards.
