The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia, Serbia, Tatjana Matić, stated today that in the first five months of this year, the number of tourists from Turkey in Serbia increased by 49% compared to last year.

After the meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Matic said that tourists from Turkey are now in the first place, when it comes to the arrival of foreign tourists in Serbia, the Government announced.

She stated that the proposal of the Turkish colleague that Serbian citizens travel to Turkey, and Turkish citizens to Serbia only with an ID card, was accepted.

According to her, tourists from Turkey, in addition to Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis, like to visit Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Novi Pazar and all tourist locations that are on the way to that city.

A statement on the website of the Government of Serbia states that the interlocutors assessed that there are great opportunities for improving cooperation between the two countries in that area.

Ersoj said that Serbia and Turkey will work to ensure that their citizens can travel to that other country only with an ID card.

As a destination for Serbia, Turkey is in the third place, and we want it to be in the first place, and that is why we give Serbia an advantage, he said.
