Reaching out to the left could resolve the French presidential election – Macron and Le Pen race predicted to be tougher than in 2017

The second round of France’s spring presidential election will once again see the same face as the 2017 election: the incumbent president, center-right Emmanuel Macron with 27.6 per cent support in the first round and right-wing popular candidate Marine Le Pen with 23.4 per cent of the vote. Both raised their support from the last election, Macron by three and Le Pen by two percentage points.
