American electric car manufacturer Fisker is stuck

Fisker, an American maker of electric cars, has filed for protection against creditors. Takeover discussions with several major manufacturers yielded no results.

The company was struggling with disappointing sales results and was looking for extra money. The Fisker Ocean, an electric SUV, also came onto the market later than planned due to problems with suppliers. There was also criticism due to software errors and technical problems.

Fisker is not the only electric car manufacturer that is having a hard time. In both the US and Europe, customers are hesitant to buy a car. Global demand for electric cars remains strong, but 60 percent of those cars will be sold in China this year.
