STOCK EXCHANGES: Wall Street opened without direction

Wall Street stock indices opened unevenly on Tuesday. Soon after the stock market opened, the S&P 500 was down -0.1 percent, the Dow Jones up 0.0 percent and the Nasdaq was down -0.3 percent.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer reported a strong $ 7.86 billion profit, with revenue up 77 percent from the comparison period to $ 25.7 billion. The result was boosted especially by the sale of the coronary vaccine.

Pfizer’s share price rose 0.3 percent shortly after the stock market opened.

The results are also reported by, among others, the make-up company Estee Lauder. Revenue was $ 4.25 billion, slightly lower than expected, but the company made a slightly stronger-than-expected operating profit.

However, Estee Lauder cut its earnings guidance for the rest of the year and the share fell as much as -8.24 percent on Tuesday.
