Lady Gaga explains why she did not deny the rumors that she is a man

The preoccupation with the gender of someone who is today one of the most successful pop stars in the world, did not fall from the headlines at the beginning of her career. However, she never denied what was said – and now, Gaga explains what is behind this decision: “I was in a situation where correcting what was said was not in the best interest of others”

“I didn’t feel victimized by this lie”: At the beginning of Lady Gaga’s career, it was not clear whether the star’s preoccupation with music outweighed the preoccupation with her gender. However, it didn’t seem to bother the singer, on the contrary, she made it clear that it was far from a problem – and never denied it clearly and directly.

But yesterday (Wednesday) the Netflix docu-series, by none other than Bill Gates, was released overseas – and among the familiar names that star in it, there is also Gaga. In a conversation with him, she explains what is behind the decision not to speak out against the rumors that did not fall from the headlines at the time.

“When I was in my early 20s, there were rumors that I was a man,” the singer told Gates. They talked about pictures that were distributed on the network that had been changed.”

 

“People assume […] that my performance is what’s not real. But to me, that’s the most real thing that you’ll see about me.”

“The reason I didn’t answer the question is because I didn’t feel like a victim because of this lie,” she explained, “I thought, ‘How will the children who accuse them of this feel, if a public woman like me feels ashamed?’ To provoke in another way, to use the wrong information in order to create a point that disrupts the way things were done.”

In closing, Gaga summed up her relationship with the unsubstantiated theories being circulated. “I’ve gotten used to having lies printed about me since I was 20 years old, I’m a performer – and I think it’s quite funny.”
