Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen win jury prize in Cannes with “The Eight Mountains”

At the 75th Cannes Film Festival, “Le otto Montagne” or “The Eight Mountains” by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen won the jury prize. They had to share that prize with “Eo” by Jerzy Skolimowski.

“It’s great to see our film coming in like this”, Felix and Charlotte reacted emotionally when receiving their award.

The film is based on Paolo Cognetti’s bestseller of the same name about a childhood friendship over the years.

It is the story of Pietro and Bruno, a boy from the city and one from the mountains, who befriend when they are eleven, with a forgotten part of the Alps as their kingdom. Their lives stretch, they lose sight of each other. While Bruno stays true to his mountain, Pietro travels the world. A journey in loneliness and love, past origin and destination, over friendship, life and death.
