“It’s a part of life that disappears” for Amanda Sthers and Patrick Bruel

While the novelist’s house is currently spared from the ongoing fires, her ex-husband’s house probably did not resist the flames.

More and more of them are seeing their homes reduced to ashes by the fires ravaging the city of Los Angeles. Currently promoting his new novel The gesturesPatrick Bruel’s ex-partner, Amanda Sthers, gave news of their respective houses on Wednesday January 8 on the set of Telematin. The latter was not on the scene when the fires broke out, unlike her son: « My son left the day it started, saw things from the plane and sent us videos », she said.

In an interview given to Parisian , the author of 46 described the current fires « without common measure » with the previous ones. Moved, Amanda Sthers declared: « It’s a tragedy. A combination of circumstances, such strong winds, a year without water… Global warming is causing more and more natural disasters. »

His house seems for the moment to have been spared from the flames thanks to the Los Angeles ring road. However : « If the fire crosses this highway, it will be catastrophic. Friends came to take refuge at my house but they were evacuated as a precaution last night. However, I live a 40 minute drive from Pacific Palisades. This demonstrates the violence of the fires ». With tears in her voice, Patrick Bruel’s ex-wife concluded: « What is also very violent and very painful is receiving photos of places we went to, parks, restaurants, and seeing that everything has burned. It’s a part of life that disappears. »

“The only assurance to which we cannot subscribe is that of emotion, of memories, of objects, of perfumes…and of the silences which surrounded this house which is going up in smoke”

Patrick Bruel at Le Parisien

As for Patrick Bruel, the news is less good. While the singer did not seem certain of the state of his house, the latter recently gave his news in an Instagram post, leaving no more room for doubts. With emotion, he declared: « The only assurance to which we cannot subscribe is that of the emotion, of the memories, of the objects, of the perfumes…and of the silences which surrounded this house which goes up in smoke. She was so important to us for 8 years…Oscar was 13 Leon 11 when we arrived… »he said. Before continuing: « It’s very hard to see the roots that we worked so hard to build disappear. It was a nice anchor, another refuge. This evening I am necessarily thinking of the victims, of my friends, of my neighbors, and of all those who lost everything in this disaster as in so many others in recent years. God bless our firefighters everywhere and always. »
