The Real Theater receives the genius award for digital innovation for attracting new generations to opera

The Royal Theater has received the Genius Award for Digital Innovation for your project ‘Francesca Caccini, Opera in Colo’ developed in collaboration with the technological multinational NTT Data, whose objective is to bring the opera to the new generations in a didactic, pleasant and informative way through The Virtual Recreation of Francesca Caccini (1587-1641), first woman author of an opera.

The Genio Awards, which have held their XVIII edition in Santander, are an initiative of the Vocento Communication Group and seek to recognize the actions aimed at solving problems in a creative way, designing innovative ideas to offer useful products and services, relevant to society.

Starting from documents that portray the composer Florentina, the Royal Theater and the technological multinational NTT Data have created a three -dimensional sketch to which its own voice has been given to Francesca Caccini, as the institution indicates in a statement.

The composer has become this way In the protagonist of a series of programs titled ‘Opera in Short’where viewers reveals the secrets of an operatic production with explanations about the libretto, music, historical and social context or anecdotes related to each title, articulating their comments with the recordings made in the Real Theater, reduced to 45 minutes, on emblematic operas of the repertoire as ‘La Bohème’ or ‘The Barber of Seville’.

Originally thought to bring lyric and classical music to educational centers, as part of the ‘El Real in your class’ training program, the short opera episodes have opened new doors that have also reached hospitals, municipalities and cultural centers.
