The destruction of the old Alexandria Library, created in the Hellenic era with the aim of concentrating all existing knowledge, constituted one of the greatest tragedies for the heritage of World. However, the noble mission of this Lighthouse of Knowledge was reborn in 2002 with the Alexandrina Bibliotheca, which recently received a donation of five copies to its collection by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

With a circular architecture in honor of RA, God of the Sun in Ancient Egypt, and located in the same place as its predecessor, off the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, received a total of 31 books on February 19, 2025 through the Network of Libraries and Archives of the Historic Center of Mexico City.

The three libraries that sent documents are the Jorge Gurría Lacroix library, of the National Coordination of Historical Monuments, with the titles Pátzcuaro: Historical Monuments Zone (2014) y Royal Road of Adentro Tierra (2006); The National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography sent Half a century of history: the National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography Manuel del Castillo Negrete (2017) (Encrym), and the Constituent Library of 1917, of the Casa de Carranza Museum, contributed Life and work of Venustiano Carranza (2013) y Casa de Carranza Museum: History and Legacy (2016).

The titles sent give an idea of ​​Mexican culture, said the Library Head of the Encrym Documentation and Archive Center, Alicia Ramírez Arriaga, who considered that the contribution is Very important for the dissemination and training of professionals ”.

The Alexandrina bibliotheca has the capacity to house more than 20 million volumes, although it is only less than 10 percent of its capacity.
