Thus kicks off the first day of pre-apertern reserved for the press and for the professionals of the 19th edition of the architecture Biennale. The event will be open to the public from next Saturday to Sunday 23 November 2025, in the gardens, to the Arsenale and Forte Marghera. ‘Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective’ It is the title of the edition, curated by Carlo Ratti.
“Architecture has always been an answer to the challenges posed by climatic conditions. From the ‘primitive huts’, human design has been guided by the needs to repair us to survive: our creations have tried to fill the gap between hostile environments and those safe and livable spaces that we all need” explained the curator by introducing the 19th edition.
For the first time, the exhibition presents Over 750 participants: architects and engineers, mathematicians and climate scientists, philosophers and artists, cooks and programmers, writers and carriers, farmers and stylists, and many others and welcomes 2,300 accredited journalists from all over the world. I am 66 national participations who organized their exhibitions in the pavilions at the gardens (26), the Arsenale (25) and in the historic center of Venice (15). The new participations are 4: Republic of Azerbaijan, sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Togo.
The Italian Pavilion at the Tesse delle Virgini in Arsenale, supported and promoted by the Directorate General of Contemporary Creativities of the Ministry of Culture, is curated by Guendalina Salimei with the project TERR AQUAE. Italy and the intelligence of husband.
The Pavilion of the Holy See, promoted by the prefect of the Dicastery for the culture and education of the Holy See, Cardinal Josè Tolentino de Mendonca, will take place this year in the complex of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice (foundation S. Gioacchin, Castello 450). The exhibition has as its title ‘open work’ and is curated by Marina Otero Verzier and Giovanna Zabotti.
