The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published on Monday the order of the Ministry of Culture for which it is designated as new members of the Royal Board of Trustees of the National Library of Spain (BNE) Irene Vallejowriter awarded with the National Test Prize in 2020; Manuel Rivas, National Award of Spanish Letters in 2024 and member of the Royal Galega Academy; and Juan Mayorgaplaywright who received the 2013 National Dramatic Literature Award and the 2007 National Theater Award.
In this way, as established by the BNE Statute, The Royal Patronage is made up of a minimum of 17 vowels and a maximum of 30, eleven of which they have the character of natos.
The rest of the vowels have the character of designated and are appointed and separated by the head of the Ministry of Culture – who, according to the Statute, corresponds to the presidency of the BNE in accordance with Law 1/2015, of March 24 – between people of recognized prestige or competence in the field of culture, scientific research and economy or that have distinguished themselves for their collaboration or support to the National Library of Spain balanced women and men.
The patron of the BNE has among its born vowels María González, Ministry of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence; Jordí Martí, Secretary of State for Culture; María del Carmen Páez, Undersecretary Ministry of Culture; Carlos Marco, Undersecretary Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; Lidia Sánchez, Undersecretary Ministry of Finance; Óscar Arroyo, director of the National Library of Spain; Mª José Gálvez, general director of the book, comic and reading Ministry of Culture; and Raimundo Pérez-Hernández, president of the Friends of the National Library of Spain.
For its part, Lluis Agustí, Isabel Burdiel, National Prize for History, Anna Caballe, writer and National History Award, Carme Chaparro, presenter and editor of Television and Radio, Ibán García, José María Lassalle, writer and former secretary of State for Culture, Gregorio Marañón, Spanish academic, Sandra Ollo, Alicia Sellés, Lorenzo Silva, Nadal 2000 Pablo Villalobos, Herralde de novel Award (2016), Lola Larumbe and Paco Roca are the designated vowels.
