Thomas Eje and his wife are now trying for the second time to sell their cultural center Harsbæksgaard

Thomas Eje, known from the comedian trio Linie 3, and his wife, Katherine Eje, have chosen to sell their huge cultural center called Harsbæksgaard in Skovby on Sydals. The Kulturhuset has been put up for sale for 3.5 million, writes jv.dk.

The couple took over the derelict farm in 2008, after which they were successful in restoring the dilapidated farm. Today, the property consists of a 700 square meter art gallery and a concert hall. The entire plot totals 9,000 square meters.

Kulturhuset has been a paradise for the couple, but now they are ready to wave goodbye after 14 years. They also said this in a post on their joint Facebook page.

‘It’s too big’
Thomas Eje tells Ekstra Bladet that there is a relatively simple reason why the couple has chosen to sell the property.

– It is simply a matter of us wanting something smaller. It is too big and there has been too much to maintain.

But it is not entirely without anguish that the couple has to move, says Thomas Eje.

– Of course we are a little sad. We love the place and we love living here. But it is simply something we will have to do.

Fall in selling price
It is not the first time that the couple has put Harbæksgaard up for sale. The first time was in spring 2020, when the property was put up for sale for 4.6 million. But here the corona pandemic got in the way of sales.

The corona hit the couple extra hard because they both work in cultural life. Therefore, the pandemic also had consequences for the couple’s private finances.

But it is not immediately the economic climate that is behind the fall in sales prices.

– We actually just agreed that we might have set the price a little too high the first time. So now we try this instead, Thomas Eje tells Ekstra Bladet.

The future is not mapped out
No future has yet been determined for Thomas and Katherine Eje, nor do they have any expectations for when Harbæksgård will be sold.

– It is brand new, so we have no expectations or plans yet. It may be sold in 2 days, or it may be in 2 years. We don’t take that too seriously, says Thomas Eje.

The couple would not mind staying in the vicinity of Sønderborg when they have to move, he also says.

– We really like the area, but now we have to see.

Until the property is sold, Harbæksgaard will continue to be a cultural center where art exhibitions and concerts are held.
