LADY, the management entity of Audiovisual Media Copyright, has approved its annual accounts with a collection of 26.3 million euros in 2020, year of the pandemic, compared to the 24.5 million euros collected the previous year.
As explained by the entity, this 7% growth is mainly due to the increase in revenue on video-on-demand platforms, which exceeds 2.4 million, which translates into an increase of 48.1% over the previous year.
In DAMA, digital television operators continue as the main source of copyright collection, contributing more than 15 million euros. The collection of royalties in cinemas was reduced to 2.9 million euros in 2020.
The entity has explained that This 49% drop is due to “the harsh impact” of Covid-19, with the rooms closed for several weeks, in the cinematographic exhibition. However, the total distribution figure to partners increased by 20% to exceed 23.6 million euros.
Regarding the number of partners, the rise was 22.3%, to 1,574 professionals, after the arrival of “some of the most recognized names” on the audiovisual scene. The arrival of new professionals has continued in the first months of 2021, in such a way that DAMA already exceeds 1,700 members.
The entity specialized in the management of audiovisual works has increased in this period the volume of foreign entities with which it has agreements for the management of copyrights.
