‘Belfast’ and ‘West Side Story’ lead 2022 Critics Choice Awards nominations

Coinciding with the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations, the Critics Choice Awards have also made public the candidacies of their 27th edition, which is scheduled to hold its gala on the same day as the HFPA awards, January 9, 2022. ‘Belfast’, de Kenneth Branagh, Y ‘West Side Story’, de Steven Spielberg, are the favorites, with eleven nominations each.

Considered one of the most personal projects of Kenneth Branagh, who was born in the capital of Northern Ireland, ‘Belfast’ It is up for the best film, best director, best original screenplay, best newcomer performance, best cast, best supporting actress, two for best supporting actor, best cinematography, best production design and best montage.

With the same number of nominations, ‘West Side Story’, the remake of the iconic 1961 musical with which Spielberg made her debut in the musical genre, aspires to become the other favorite. The film is up for the award for best film, best director, best adapted screenplay, two for best supporting actress, best new performance, best cast, best costume design, best production design, for the best montage and the best photography.

A very close competition, well ‘Dune’ Y ‘The power of the dog’ aspire to 10 awards, followed by ‘Licorice Pizza’ Y ‘The alley of lost souls’, who are competing for eight awards. In fourth position, they are ‘The Williams method’ Y ‘Don’t look up’, which have achieved six nominations.
