When Ekstra Bladet meets Melvin Kakooza ahead of TV 2’s big birthday show for Crown Princess Mary, he says that he is currently working a lot on his upcoming talk show, which he is looking forward to being able to tell more about soon.

But first, he can look forward to hosting this year’s Zulu Awards, which will be held on February 17. For him, it’s not just any day.

It is almost a year ago that Melvin Kakooza was hospitalized with a brain tumor.

– It’s going to be an anniversary. Last year, February 17, I was ready to have surgery. Now I have to stand on stage, it’s going to be a good day, says a happy Melvin Kakooza.

Last year, Melvin Kakooza was originally supposed to have been a maternity substitute for Sofie Linde, who usually hosts ‘X Factor’. In his absence, Lise Rønne had instead taken on the role of host of the big live shows.

Great role model
Tonight, Melvin Kakooza is a guest at the Crown Princess’ birthday show, which he has been looking forward to. The royal house means a lot to his family.

– She is a good example of coming from another country and adapting to our traditions, customs and internal traditions. She has done super well and is a great role model for many who come from abroad. It is very remarkable. She has been a great role model for my family, says Melvin Kakooza.

On the occasion of the day, he has made a feature for the celebration.

– I have tried to hit a humor that they hopefully think is funny and understand. I think they like what I’ve made. It is based on ‘Absolutely Black’, which I made with my mother.
