‘Madres paralelas’ de Almodóvar, nominada al BAFTA a la mejor película de habla no inglesa

‘Parallel Mothers’, Pedro Almodóvar’s film, is one of the five titles vying for the award for best non-English language film at the 2022 BAFTAs. The 75th edition of the awards given each year by the British Academy of Film and Television will be awarded on March 13 at a gala to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London and in which ‘Dune’ by Denis Villeneuve starts as the big favorite with a total of eleven nominations.

The film by the filmmaker from La Mancha, starring Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit and Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, will compete for the award with ‘The Worst Person in the World’, by Norwegian director Joachim Trier; ‘Drive my car’, by the Japanese Ryûsuke Hamaguchi; ‘It was the hand of God’, by the Italian Paolo Sorrentino; and ‘Petite maman’, by the French filmmaker Céline Sciamma.

The BAFTA nomination for ‘Madres Paralelas’ comes a week after Almodóvar’s film was also nominated for best foreign film at the César awards for French cinema.
