Who will walk away this year with one or more Victoires de la Musique? To find out, meet on Friday for this 37th edition which will take place at the Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt. Chaired by Stromae, who will perform on stage for the occasion, the ceremony will be broadcast live on France 2 and France Inter from 9:10 p.m. and will be presented by the duo Laury Thilleman and Olivier Minne.

Like last year, the Victoires de la Musique are organized around eight categories: Male Artist, Female Artist, Male Revelation, Female Revelation, Album, Original Song, Concert and Audiovisual Creation. But a little novelty is added to this 2022 edition: the prize for the most “streamed” title, awarded last year to the song Ne reviens pas by rappers Gradur and Heuss l’Enfoiré, is extended this year to the album the most “streamed”. In addition, it is split into a male and female version, of which we already know the big winners. They are rapper SCH for his fifth album Jvlivs II and singer Aya Nakamura for her third album Aya, which has recorded more than 12 million downloads just four days after its release.

This 37th edition marks the return of the Concert category, which due to the Covid-19 pandemic was canceled last year. It will take into account the two previous years and designate the winner from among Ben Mazué, Hervé and Woodkid. This ceremony will also be the occasion, as for each edition, to award the Victory of Honor. After the presentation, last year, of this special prize to Jane Birkin, it is Jacques Dutronc who will receive this statuette on Friday. A symbolic attribution for the singer, who after four years spent in the shadows will go back on stage in the spring, for the first time with his son Thomas.

To know the name of the other winners, it will therefore be necessary to wait until Friday evening. But two candidates dominate the nominations, they are Orelsan and Clara Luciani. They both compete in four categories each, including: Artist, Original Song, Album of the Year and Audiovisual Creation. With more than 335,000 copies sold, it is the album Civilization by the 39-year-old rapper who is named, alongside Cœur, composed by the 29-year-old singer, who ranks eleventh in sales on the year 2021 with 155,000 copies. The group Fire! Chatterton then comes second with three nominations, like singer Juliette Armanet. As for the Male Revelation and Female Revelation categories, eagerly awaited each year, they highlight L’Impératrice, Barbara Pravi and Silly Boy Blue on the women’s side and black dog, Myd and Terrenoire on the men’s side.

For this 2022 edition, the public votes in three categories: Original Song, Concert and Audiovisual Creation. The votes were open until Thursday 8 p.m. on the France Télévisions site. For the other categories, the votes go to a college of voters, which brings together 900 people from among professionals in the music industry and members known as “outside the music industry”, who were chosen on the basis of a cover letter.
