Cecilie Hother – That’s why she stops on TV 2
TV 2 host Cecilie Hother has quit her regular job because she wants more time with the kids. She says that the unborn son Karl, whom she and her husband unfortunately lost in 2019, has indirectly had an impact on the election.

TV 2 will lose one of their big profiles in May, when Cecilie Hother of her choice stops on the channel.

As Ekstra Bladet wrote on Thursday, she has after difficult deliberations chosen to say her permanent position as i.a. weather host on the canal up after roughly a total of 15 years in the workplace to devote more time with his two children, Elinor and Aksel, who were born in 2016 and 2020, respectively.

The motto from Hother is clear: You have to enjoy your children while they are young. Suddenly they have flown from the nest.

And then it can also quickly go wrong. Cecilie Hother and her husband, Thomas Greger’s Honoré, experienced this up close when, in March 2019, they unfortunately had to announce that they had lost the couple’s unborn son Karl.

– Now I’m just moved, says Cecilie Hother and clearly gets a lump in her throat when Ekstra Bladet cautiously asks if the grief over the loss has played into her career choice to leave the fixed frame on TV 2.

– Of course it has. Ever since then (the loss of the son, ed.) I have run a lot after that motto with ‘dream less, do more’. I can not say that it is one thing that has done it – it is many things in one’s life – and we are products of the events that happen in our lives. When you collect them, that’s just the way it is, says Cecilie Hother.

No revelation
The charismatic host, who for many years has brought weather forecasts to the Danes and also helped start TV 2 Fri, would like to explain to Ekstra Bladet why she came to such an important decision.

– It’s very simple. I love my job, but I love my kids more. I just need it to stick together and it has been hard with working hours. I think most TV hosts know that. I have not received much revelation, but I saw how much my children developed in such a short time when we took leave, and that was clearly a contributing factor – there is no doubt about that. It has helped to put it all into perspective.

– They’re small now. It is now that they need to be put to care. It’s a bit of a phrase, but you have them somewhere for a very short time, and that’s now they need me. I have fought hard to have those children, Hother says.

Lies in DNA
She emphasizes that she is by no means done with television, because she loves the concept too much to completely drop it. Now it will just be on slightly different terms in the future.

– It’s just the permanent job I drop – it’s not because I close the door to TV in any way. I still want to do that. I love making TV. It’s in my DNA after 15 years, but I’ll have to do it another way. This can be done by doing freelance work, and fortunately there are many examples of this.
